Gelato Village is bringing ten of the world’s top Maestro Gelatieri to the UK
We will present 17 gelati and sorbetti made by us and our esteemed guests, including Paolo Brunelli, the number one rated gelatiere in Italy. A lively programme of demonstrations and tastings will accompany the three day extravaganza, including a daily Aperitivo Hour where award-winning local bartenders will match Italian cocktails to the festival gelato.
The gelatieri will make their product fresh each day at the in-house Gelato Laboratory. The basis for the dairy-based gelato will be milk and cream from the single herd of rare breed Red Poll cows at Belvoir Ridge Creamery in Leicestershire. Some gelatieri will also be bringing the taste of home with them, to showcase the typical flavours of their region. For example, Raffaella Garavelli from Lombardy, will present a Happy Apple sorbetto, made with apples and quince as well as Franciacorta- a typical sparkling wine of the city of Brescia.
We are Slow Food Supporters and known for our dedication to the highest quality ingredients. All of the gelatieri we have invited to the event share this commitment to food that is Good, Clean and Fair as well as using the traditional ‘mantecazione’ method of gelato production. Authentic, artisanal gelato has been experiencing a revival in recent years as a response to synthetic products which increased production and profitability overtaking careful recipe development using only natural ingredients in the past.
The event is being funded primarily by us and is presented in collaboration with the Compagnia Gelatieri, an invitation-only association of Maestri Gelatieri committed to the best quality ingredients and excellence in production. We are being kindly supported by our major sponsor Agrimontana, who are supplying a large number of the natural ingredients that will be used to craft the gelato as well as contributing towards the logistical costs of the event and hosting a celebratory meal for the gelatieri. Also sponsored by Antonelli Bros Ltd of Manchester who are generously providing bespoke cones and wafers for the event as well as participating in the events programme.
